Fridge Organization & Tips

Do you love grocery shopping day?  I am really not a fan of going to the grocery store. Fortunately, I recently have put together a system which saves me from those dreaded grocery store trips.  I now do my grocery shopping online at Harris Teeter. I can pay with my AMEX Blue Cash Preferred too, making shopping more exciting! It’s always great being able to earn rewards on money you were going to spend anyway. I love it! While meal planning each week I simply go online and order my groceries.  I do have to pick them up, but that is ok.  I don’t even have to get out of the car.  They have such great service.

When I get home I spend approximately 30 minutes prepping our food for the week.  In the video below I share with you how I do this along with a tour of my fridge.  I have been loving this system and it works great for both my husband and I.

The Video

I hope you will enjoy this video where I give you a tour of my fridge.  I also take you through my process of how I prep my fridge weekly.  Hope you will enjoy.

WHERE TO BUY

Definitely check you local Marshall’s and TJ Maxx to see if you can get these items less expensive.  I found several of my items in these stores at better pricing.  If I could not find in those stores I ordered them from Amazon.

Those squeeze bottles you use for condiments, the contents don’t dry out or crust over? Do you clean and refill or do you throw them away?

    • Nikki says:

Hi Lee. I have not had any problems with them. Just keep the tips on them. I made the mistake of ordering the bottles without the tips so had to get them separately.

      • Liana Hanson says:

I also purchased these squeeze bottles without the tips. Where did you get to order the tips separately?

      • Liana Hanson says:

Since I live in Alaska, the only stores available here are Target and Bed Bath and Beyond. There are a few restaurant supply places which is where I got my squeeze bottles.

      • rachelle says:

i too would love to know where you purchased the caps for these please

  2. Chris says:

You have great ideas Nikki and even better execution! I am learning a lot from you 🙂

  3. Joanna says:

Wow Nikki!!! Your fridge looks great. So neat and organised. Having the same kind of storage containers makes it look organised and more uniform. It makes me want to organise mine now! Thanks for your great ideas.

    • Nikki says:

Thank you so much Joanna! So glad you liked. So true. Those storage containers have really helped with keeping things neat and orderly. Hope you are doing great. Nikki

  4. Carrie says:

I LOVE your organizational vlogs. They are practical and economical. I will be looking for the creamer containers and trying out the mason jar tip. I may need to try smaller jars for my older fridge. Same size condiment containers with labels would be a space saver! Thanks for all the helpful tips. ( Since we had to start using Google+ – I can no longer leave comments on Youtube.) So sad. : (

    • Nikki says:

Thank you so much! So glad you are enjoying. Definitely try Marshall’s and TJ Maxx Carrie. They often sell these items for less. That google plus is something. I now have problems even responding to some post on my videos. So glad you are able to leave a comment here. Love hearing from you. Hugs. Nikki

  5. Leslie says:

Hi Nikki, Thank you for sharing your fridge organization. I picked up so many great ideas. I really like the make ahead salads and fruit prep. Also, the squeeze bottles are a fantastic idea!!!
    Hugs, Leslie

  6. LaNika Theriot says:

Hi there. Just wondering if all of your beverage containers are the same size and what size are you using? I love your fridge and can’t wait to get started taming mine!

    • Nikki says:

Hi LaNika. The beverage sizes are three different sizes. I have 2 large for our juices, 2 Mediums for milk and smaller juices and 2 small for my coffee creamer. You can see the sizes in the amazon links above. Hope this helps and thanks so much for watching.

      • Jane says:

I discovered your videos and blog today and the refrigerator organization is fabulous! I looked for your Amazon link for the milk and juice bottles, but I do not see it. When I first saw the bottles .. I went looking for them .. but I do not see the ones you have in your fridge. Would you please send a link? Thanks so much!!

      • Devon says:

I also was looking for the Amazon link, but couldn’t find it. Could you please re-post it?

      • Amberlee says:

Hi Nikki. Big fan! Wondering how you mark the expire date on the beverage bottles i.e. milk? Are they easy to grip when taken out of the fridge (due to condensation)? I have two boys that like to make their own cereal in the morning, and I worry about them slipping out of their hand.

      • Amberlee says:

I just found a possible solution. These milk jugs are glass, have a good seal, and a handle.http://www.amazon.co.uk/Litre-Glass-Fridge-Drinks-Container/dp/B00GSQNCEQ
I think they would still look nice, but positioning them around the right way with the handles could get tricky.

  7. Darlene mungo says:

Great tips as usual. What size jars are u using for your beverages. I think I missed that.

    • Nikki says:

Hi Darlene. So glad you liked the tips. I use the large beverages jars for my juices, Medium size for milk and small juice and small for my coffee creamers. Hope this helps and hope you are doing great. Hugs. Nikki

  8. Sharon says:

Your fridge is beautiful, thank you for doing a video of it. I shared it with all my plant based friends on the McDougall Friends page and they are loving it for all their salads, fruits and veggies.
Nikki in the “where to buy” where are the other items such as the bottles? Also love those little glass food storage containers are those from the Dollar Tree or another kind of dollar store?
    Thanks!

    • Nikki says:

Hi Sharon! So glad you liked! Thank you so much for sharing with your friends on the McDougall Friends place. I got those bottles on the amazon website for the condiments. You want to be sure to get the ones with the tips on them. Oh I just love those dollar store lidded containers also. They work so great. Thanks so much for all your support and for enjoying what I share. Hugs. Nikki

      • Doris says:

Hi Nikki – I absolutely love the way you organize your refrigerator and those jars seem to become so handy.. but I have a concern regarding the vegetables that you stored in those jars.. I’ve tried using plastic containers and the tomatoes turned out soggy so how about those that you store along with the rest of the salads and cucumber are they soggy at the end of the week?

  9. Shelia says:

I love your fridge and can’t wait to do mine! I loved the idea of your leftover area. My fridge now will maybe have 5 things of leftovers.

    • Nikki says:

Hi Shelia! So glad you liked. You know that giving myself limits with where I can store leftovers really helps keep down on cleaning out my fridge. I am loving that. I wish you so much success with your fridge. Thanks so much for watching! Hugs. Nikki

  10. HEATHER says:

thank you so much Nikki! I love this video! Your refrigerator is beautiful. What kind of refrigerator is it? The only reason I ask is because I am in the market for a new one and I really like yours.

    • Nikki says:

So happy you enjoyed Heather! Thank you so much. My fridge is a Kenmore Elite. I wish you so much success on your fridge shopping. Hope you are doing great. Hugs. Nikki

Now how can anyones fridge look that cute & clean WOW. 🙂

  12. Nichcole says:

Lovely Nikki, thank you for the inspiration. May I ask where you found the basket that hold your yogurt?

    • Nikki says:

Hi Nichcole! Thank you. I got the baskets from Marshall’s. They we are around 3 or 4 dollars each I believe. Thanks so much for watching and hope you are doing great. Hugs. Nikki

  13. Chasity says:

I love your organizational videos Nikki! So awesome. I want to try the squeeze bottles but I can’t find any with lids on the tips. Does your condiments dry up without the tips covered? Thanks

    • Nikki says:

Thank you Chasity. If you look on amazon they sell the ones with the lids. l made the mistake of buying ones without lids then having to find some separately. Hope your doing great. Thanks so much for watching. Hugs. Nikki

    thanks

    • Nikki says:

  16. Kathy Ueoka says:

Fabulous videos! I love all the new videos you’re putting out. Always inspiring! Thanks for sharing!

  17. Nicole says:

I noticed the red onion chopped in the glass jar…Do you have any problems with the onion smell in the glass jar…I know storing in plastic baggies creates a odor that drives me batty…Luv your channel…hubby says I’m addicted…lol

  18. Debbie from Illinois says:

Nikki, excellent fridge organization!, thank you!

  19. Blyth says:

Love the ideas! We have a store here in the Bay Area called Daiso, and almost all of the organizational items your showing, they carry, for only $1.50! It might be worth it to check and see if there’s a store in the area where you live.

  20. Zanie says:

    Hi Nikki,
So proud of the way you’re expanding your brand and spreading your heartfelt desire to help others! Quick question: is the vertical storage where you store your snacks part of the refrigerator itself or did you purchase those bins.I have found most of the other plastic pieces in my local TJ Maxx and Marshalls. Some worked out better than others based on my own set up – I actually used the wine holder piece to store the yogurts (holds 6) since they are such an awkward size.

  21. As always you are amazing! I learn so much from you. Keep up the great work. You inspire me as a new blogger.

  22. Jindy Marie says:

Oh my goodness, Ms. Nikki! You are disgustingly amazing!! Such perfect organization with the fridge!! I wish to do this in my future home (soon apt). Currently, I live w my parents and they are terrible at organizing! They’ve given up w maintaining the house. And I thought the fridge was hopeless, but as soon as I saw this vid, I knew there was hope!! I tried my best organizing. Still have a lot of work since I’m the only one following up w the cleanliness; but still, it’s a start. Thank you so much for your wonderful ideas!

  23. Kathy Ueoka says:

Hi Nikki! Love these types of videos. I tried looking at the condiment bottles on Amazon and I don’t see any with the caps. Can you post a link or item.
Thanks so much! Keep ’em coming!

  24. Dana says:

This is beyond belief!!!! What size are your squeeze bottles?

  25. Marisela says:

Where do you get the condiment bottles?

  26. judy thomas says:

thank you, great information. can’t wait to put these hints to work

  27. sue says:

Nikki Love those fridge juice bottles have asked 3 times now where can i purchase them no amazon link. Please help

    • Nikki says:

Hi Sue. Hope all is great your way. Not sure why you are unable to see the amazon link. It is the first link on the products under this blog post. I had several others state they have ordered them so I don’t think the link is broken. My apologies for the delayed response. Nikki

  28. Devon says:

I was able to figure out why the link that so many people have been asking for isn’t working. It can only be viewed on Internet Explorer, so for all of us who use Chrome or Firefox, we can’t see it.
    http://www.amazon.com/InterDesign-Brushed-Stainless-Steel-Bottle/dp/B00BNUXJIQ/ref=as_sl_pc_ss_til?tag=athowini-20&linkCode=w01&linkId=5XSKBUPIH423ND3L&creativeASIN=B00BNUXJIQ
That is the link that has been so widely requested.

  29. sue says:

Thank You so Much Nikki. They did’nt show up with my browser. My daughter found them under Google Chrome Thanks again

  30. diana says:

I just finished organizing my fridge. Thank you for that great fridge video. I used one of my bins for fruit and put a divider in it that is used for socks. (it’s plastic with a zig-zag form). I divided the apples from the peaches. I also put a little museum putty to hold the divider. I also bought a tray with to hold the tomatoes. Now I can see how many tomatoes I have without over buying. I bought a tray with a divider in it to hold my cheese and lunch meats. Now it so organized and I can see what I have and what I need. I found the trays at Marshall’s. I could only find squeeze bottles at Walmart but they have the tips connected with a thin plastic strap that connects to the bottle. I thought maybe this way the tips won’t get lost down the drain! I also found a stoneware milk bottle at Marshall’s to put my creamer in it. It ‘s not clear, but it stay so cold for the creamer. Now I love to open my fridge! Before There were bags of veggie and fruit and had to look what was inside each bag. NOT ANYMORE!!!!!! Thank you Nikki for your inspiration!!! I would not have organized my fridge that way, until I saw your Fridge beautifully done.

  31. Juanita says:

I love the fridge organization, I’m moving into a new home and is looking for ideas on how to decorate, would love any suggestion you can provide to me. What channel do your show come on and what time? anxiously waiting ideas I move into my new home Jul 7th.

  32. Martie says:

Hi Nikki – I love all your organization videos and your cleaning tips. I have a question about your fridge. Where are the door bins from? The ones with your grapes, baby carrots etc in? They look like the tilt out. Very neat! Thanks for great tips.

  33. B.Foster says:

Where did you buy the condiment bottles? Also, is the butter holder/container part of the refrig or did you purchase it separately? thank you

  34. Allena says:

I like your idea which you share i see whole video the proper guidance and point to point the steps are there to arrange our refrigerator thanks for sharing.

  35. Stacey Arthurton says:

    Hello Nikki,
I really like how you organize your refrigerator. I use a similar method with my condiments but my bottles are smaller. Where did you find such large bottles? Thank you for the inspiration.

  36. Kristie says:

Hi Nikki! Just found your videos and blog. LOVE THEM!! I was wondering if you could point me in a good direction for the baskets you have the yogurt in?

  37. Jayda says:

Hi! I love the condiment holder idea however, I am concerned I will have leftover mayo/ketchup/mustard, etc that will not fit into the bottle. Do you ever run into that issue?

  38. Karen says:

Hi Nikki! I have been a subscriber for a while now and love your videos and your overall style! You have truly inspired me to reorganize my refrigerator. I have been shopping in Marshalls and TJ Maxx for the bins. I noticed a couple of responders asked about the vertical bins in the door (the grab and go snacks) however, I didn’t see a response about where to purchase them. Could you please tell me where I can purchase those containers if they are still available? Like many others I love your videos! Thank you in advance!

  39. Rosa says:

Hi Nikki, I really like the bottles for the milk, where did you get them, I did go on the amazon website but I didn’t see the large size fro the milk.

  40. Norma Reske says:

What is the size of the mason jar that you used for your salad?

  41. Lakindra says:

  42. Heidi says:

Love this video. I have watched a couple of times. So many good ideas. I have a question. Where did you get the squeeze bottles. I didn’t see the location on your website or at the dollar tree.

  43. Ashley-Rose Caldwell-Hewitt says:

I am in search of those handy carafes you keep your milk in. I cant seem to find them anywhere. I really like the particular ones you have with the metal lids.

  44. Lillian Urbanski says:

    Hi Nikki!
Great job! Are your milk bottles glass or plastic? Did you buy them at amazon.com? I love them and would like to find them! Thank you for being so kind and for being my inspiration!
    Blessings…
    Lillian

  45. mary kormanek says:

I love it! You are my life coach. High five and a big hug

  46. Christine says:

I use the mason jars as well. I add part of a paper towel to the bottom of the jars and the top of the salad too for moisture control. My salads aren’t soggy then.

  47. Autumn says:

I don’t see anything under “Where to Buy” except the apothecary jars from World Market. Is it just me or is this post not working now?

  48. Harry says:

    Great post,

After coming from grocery shopping, arranging all the items is a tedious job. Your tips are really helpful and using these one can arrange a lot of items in less space also.

Its quite nice organising refrigerator in such an interesting and efficient way.
    Thanks for sharing…
    Cheers!!

  49. Karen says:

HI Nikki, I just found your site and I am loving it. I have organized my pantry and frig. What a feeling. My question is are you using wide mouth jars for the salads? I have a food sealer with a jar attachment that will suck out the air to make them stay fresher in the jar so I figured that out I’m just trying to figure if you are using regular or wide mouth jars. Can’t wait to see more of your ideas. Thanks Karen
