If you had told me 10 years ago that I would be lovingly wiping down plant leaves like they were fine china… I would have laughed.
Because let me tell you, there was a time when a plant entering my home was basically… on borrowed time.
I mean, I could unintentionally take out a plant faster than anything. And some of you have been with me long enough to remember those days.
But something shifted about seven or eight years ago.
I slowed down.
I paid attention.
And somewhere along the way… I started loving my plants.
Not just keeping them alive, but truly enjoying them as part of my home.
One of the biggest changes I made, and this might sound simple, but it changed everything, was creating a dedicated indoor plant tote.
Now, I like to think of mine as my little plant doctor bag… because when I pick it up, I’m officially “on rounds.”
Instead of running back and forth grabbing supplies, everything I need is right there in one beautiful woven tote. I can move from room to room, caring for my plants with ease.
And honestly? It makes the whole process feel peaceful instead of like a chore.
And you know how I feel about that… we’re creating experiences in our homes.
Over time, I’ve curated what I keep in my bag, and every item serves a purpose:

It’s not a huge tote, but it holds exactly what I need.
And if I’m honest… it’s starting to inspire something bigger (more on that in a moment).
Now here’s something that might make you smile…
I name my plants.
Yes… I do. 😄
And I’m not even embarrassed about it.
Because when you name something, you naturally care for it differently. You pay attention. You notice when something’s off. You become connected.
And suddenly, it’s not just “a plant in the corner”… it’s your plant.
Now let me share something I’m really excited about…
In this home, I have a new dream:
to create a beautiful outdoor floral garden.
But I also know myself, I’m not rushing this.
I’m building it slowly, intentionally… and in a way that feels joyful.
So here’s what I’ve started doing (and I love this so much):

I’ll find affordable, beautiful flowers or bulbs, bring them home, and plant them inside first, usually in something pretty like a ginger jar or a vase.
In fact, the one I’m sharing in this post?
I found it at Publix for $7.99.
And let me tell you… It looks so beautiful sitting on my kitchen table.
I get to enjoy the blooms up close in my everyday life.
And then…
When the blooms fade (usually after about a week), I gently snip them back—and plant them outside.
Little by little…
Bloom by bloom…
I’m building my garden.

Now, I will say this…
This little tote has been such a blessing, but it’s also becoming a gateway.
Because as my collection grows (pots, labels, tools, and all the little plant goodies we somehow collect 😄), I can feel myself dreaming about a dedicated planting station.
A space where everything has a home.
Where I can create, plant, and nurture with intention.
But for now?
My little “plant doctor bag” is doing just fine.
If you’ve ever felt like you “just aren’t good with plants”… let me gently say:
You might just need a better system, not a greener thumb.
Start small.
Create a simple tote.
Keep your tools together.
Make it easy to care for your plants.
And most importantly… enjoy the process.
Because sometimes, it’s not just about growing plants…
It’s about growing into a new rhythm in your home.
It is possible…
If I can go from plant killer… to plant caretaker…
There’s hope for all of us.
Hugs and Love,
Nikki ✨
